Browsing through tumblr and found lots of images that inspire me, let’s have a look!
First off is this dream house in red by the sea, this must be out of a fairytale, who is the lucky person that gets to live here? So many arches and so ornate!
Gold gilded framed clutter fabulousness.
A stunning iron railing in black and gold, the icing on the cake of a beautiful expansive white staircase.
Flicking through Harper’s Bazaar’s website I came across a feature on the absolutely stunning home of Max and Lubov Azria, the team behind the labels BCBG, Maz Azria and Herve Leger.
…an eclectic house and its equally eclectic owners…the living room, where the walls are covered with sunburst mirrors, some of the first items the Ukrainian-born former ballerina started collecting. In turn, the house is called La Maison de Soleil, and a crest, with rays emanating from the letter A (for Azria) has been printed on carpets, candles, and the directors’ chairs that overlook the outdoor tennis court. Max also has his own face emblazoned on poker chips and cards….”There’s a sense of humor about the place,” says Lubov, adding that she was inspired, in part, by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Complex and exciting, red patterns and textures take centre stage in the bedroom.
The “pure” red of which certain abstractionists speak does not exist. Any red rooted in blood, glass, wine, hunters’ caps and a thousand other concrete phenomena. Otherwise we would have no feeling toward red and its relations.

A bed canopy sets the scene for restful sleep; choose from crisp stripes, smart tailored linen or romantic sheers. Here, traditional French country style has been created by draping striped ticking from Mulberry Home across two poles hung from ceiling hooks with ribbon. A red floral bedspread from The Blue House adds dramatic contrast, while antique slatted doors on a built-in cupboard and a French-style mirrored dressing table complete the look.
This is indeed an opulent bedroom. The idea of layering curtains, creating fabric wall panels and fitting gold gilt pelmets above the window and bed was inspired by classical Roman decoration. Dunelm Mill fabric has been made into an eye-catching bedspread and cushions, and the luscious red carpet is equally decadent.
I heart bookshelves, yes I do! …and usually the more book cluttered the home library looks the more I love it!
So in honour of that, today we are looking at inspiring images of bookshelves as the main living room feature in the home in thier many and varied forms.
This nautical color palette with it’s vibrant blue, cheerful red and lots of white screams summer!
Look to the water. If you have spectacular ocean views, let the water replace interior blue hues and introduce extra hints of red for contrast.
A lovely porch perfect for seaside living with a white, blue and red color scheme.
Red is an intense and aggressive color, so it works best as an accent.
Reds will dominate and come forward and blues will recede. With a combination of stripes and patterns you can create the perfect lively nautical themed living room that is a pleasure to be in.
Consider using your boldest hue (in this case red) on an accent wall. When you’re working with several shades, the brightest color will showcase the wall with the most interesting features.
A playful nautical themed guestroom with the theme taken quite literally.
A kids bedroom in bold blues, red accents and strong nautical theme.
I am Pandora. A lover of interior design, decorating, homes, gardens and all things stylish!
I have been studying interior design as a side project for a few years on and off and decided to make this blog where I jot down my ideas and inspirations in the hopes that they will help or inspire others.
I am particularly in love with devising new color schemes an will try to add some of that here too.
This home and decorating site is a work in progress for me so come back often to see new ideas!
