Orange, Lime and Turquoise Kitchen

Stunning American classic kitchen in white with accent colors in orange, turquoise and lime green. The color pallet and kitchen design was chosen by Melanie Siegel, an illustrator of children’s books. Simple and magical kitchen design:

The catalyst for the entire design, Melanie says, was the backsplash, which features tile she and her husband found and personally installed. “When I saw that tile, I knew that was it,” she says. “It determined everything in the kitchen, and the colors spread throughout the house.” She chose soft gray cabinets and simple white walls to create a subtle contrast to the tile’s mix of hues, which include bright orange, aqua and green.

Melanie is also fond of airy, inviting spaces, which influenced the glass cabinets and open shelving in the kitchen island. “It helps the kitchen look larger, and the glass gives it a nice sparkle,” she says. Though she first planned to use vintage glass with inset chicken wire, she discovered more affordable safety glass—something she says the glass company had never used in a kitchen. “I took a chance, and I’m so happy with it,” says Melanie.

Vintage Dressers for the Kitchen

A collection of vintage dresses makes up this boho chic, country, cottage kitchen in Lithgow, Australia.

A perfectly quaint way to display your collection of vintage cups, plates and other decorative arts. Pure charm in bargain shop finds that create that nostalgic sense of grandma’s house from yester year.

This style can be re created on a small budget, all it takes is time and a passion for hunting down those unique pieces. I love checking out my local markets and thrift shops because it is here that you can find those rare treasures that can create a home like this!

Hague Blue Kitchen

Hague blue kitchen by Miles Redd.  High gloss Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball – a rich deep teal color that creates a very sophisticated and mature space.

Hague blue in this kitchen is used in such quantity, from the walls, to the floor to ceiling kitchen cabinets and the skirtings, no place seems untouched by this shade. It is quite a dark color that closes the space in, it would not be suitable for very small kitchens, but in this relatively large kitchen it really works.

Loving the antique bronze faucets and finishes; an old school, drawing room charm is exuded, a real film noir quality.

Green Chroma Kitchen

Monolithic bold green modern kitchen by Bruce Bolander architect.

Amazing how the bright lime/ neon green cabinets contrast against the natural greens of nature behind it. Nature and man-made co existing in harmony. Now this is not a color for the faint at heart, nor the conservative types. It is out there, it is loud, it’s the color of my favorite energy drink.

The stainless steel appliances and finishes do something to cool this green down a touch, but it still evokes a feeling of raving all night while “The Prodigy”  rages through my speakers, I feel hyped!

Turquoise Mosaic Kitchen

A mosaic tile wall softens the laboratory-like effect of the glossy kitchen cabinets.

I am always a fan of turquoise, that is why you will see so much of it here on this site. This color connects the heart to the mind, it evokes feelings of peace and tranquility and is very refreshing.

In this kitchen, the turquoise in combination with the pure white creates an almost angelic color scheme that is very unique when combined with the glossy, edgy, sleek modern lines of the cabinets and fit outs.
