Imagine This – Organic Beach House

An amazing beach waterfront home in Sydney Australia. The use of new and aged timbers, stone and marble provide a wonderfully natural and organic feel to what is a very elegant  and modern home.

Extraordinary consideration has been given to the use of lighting in this home with a wonderful array of custom fittings.

This house is truly amazing and I am adding it to my blog as a source of inspiration that I am sure to refer to countless of times! Have a look at the images and be amazed!

Max Azria’s Home

Flicking through Harper’s Bazaar’s website I came across a feature on the absolutely stunning home of  Max and Lubov Azria, the team behind the labels BCBG, Maz Azria and Herve Leger.

…an eclectic house and its equally eclectic owners…the living room, where the walls are covered with sunburst mirrors, some of the first items the Ukrainian-born former ballerina started collecting. In turn, the house is called La Maison de Soleil, and a crest, with rays emanating from the letter A (for Azria) has been printed on carpets, candles, and the directors’ chairs that overlook the outdoor tennis court. Max also has his own face emblazoned on poker chips and cards….”There’s a sense of humor about the place,” says Lubov, adding that she was inspired, in part, by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

Religious Icon Design

Flicking through a copy of Inside Out July/August 2010 Australia, I came across an eclectic home covered in religious iconography. A perfect example of finding beauty in gaudiness.

Teresa has developed a look that’s decidedly European, but with a personalised twist. Her skills lies in what she calls cambio – to change and transform things. And by her own admission she’d rather things be “a little bit of ugly, to be reborn beautiful again”…Iconography plays a big part in her overall scheme, which she puts down to her Catholic childhood, when she was surrounded by crucifixes, Bibles and weeping Madonnas in her family home.

17th Century Spain Decor

Here we take a look at the Veronica Etro family home in the island of Ibiza. This is a wonderful old Spanish style home with gorgeous period pieces from the 17th Century Spain. White walls, exposed beams in a dark brown, highly ornate chairs, mirrors and light fittings.
